Canyon Village
Canyon Village

Canyon Village is probably the second most visited location in the park (after Old Faithful).  The Yellowstone River has cut a large canyon through the Yellowstone valley and there are numerous pullouts and viewing areas on both sides of the canyon to view it's two beautiful water falls.

There is a large concessionaire operated campground (272 sites), a large lodge with many cabins, two Hamilton General stores, a gas station with towing and repair service, a post office and a horse riding stable. Phone 307-344-7311 for reservations at lodge and campground.

Twelve miles west of Canyon is Norris Junction.  At Norris is a large first come/first serve campground (116 sites) and the Yellowstone Ranger museum.  The Norris geyser basin has several geysers and hot springs worthy of a visit.

Halfway between Norris and Mammoth Hot Springs is the first come/first serve Indian Creek campground with 75 sites.

All are highly recommended locations to visit if your doing more than simply driving through the park with a stop at Old Faithful.  Some beautiful scenery.
